Studies in Co-Creating Assisted Living Solutions
Case studies
SCALS consists (currently) of six case studies, each an English health or social care organisation striving to introduce a technology-supported service to support independent living in people with health and/or social care needs.
We employ a co‐design approach to help participating organisations establish, refine and evaluate their service. To that end, we are conducting in‐depth ethnographic studies of people’s experience of assisted living technologies (micro-level), embedded in an evolving organisational case study using interviews, ethnography and document analysis (meso‐level), and taking account of wider context (macro-level).
Case study 1 - Integrated care in practice
What are the experiences of integrated health and social care for adults with complex needs considered to be at high risk of hospital admission?
Case study 2 - GPS tracking
Co-producing GPS tracking technology for people with dementia (Adult Social Care, assistive technology and telecare service)
Case study 3 - Video consulting
Telehealth and video-consulting for patients with heart failure.
Case study 4 - Remote care
Providing prevention services with remote telecare technologies.
Case study 5 - Caring Technologies
How do digital health solutions support caring?
Case study 6 - Technologically-enabled epilepsy care
Integrating and adapting technology to support epilepsy care and self-management.
