Head of Department support documents

Please approach Professor Chris Butler (rather than Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh) for Head of Department Letters of Support on grant applications etc as he is our Interim Associate Head of Research. Please also add Chris as the HoD sign off in your online applications /portals and send him a draft application in advance so he can consider for relevance.

Other notes on applications

  • Always complete a full costing for approval by Research Services, even if only a single budget figure is needed initially.
  • Internal deadlines for overseas funders (e.g. EC, NIH) differ — contact the Grants Team early to confirm exact dates.
  • Some funding calls are capped at the institutional level and are centrally coordinated
