Congratulations to Dr Daniel Adegoke (2020, MSc EBHC), who is the winner of the inaugural 2025 NDPCHS alumni survey prize.

Writing about his time in Oxford, Daniel describes it as ‘fabulous and very informative’ and says it profoundly impacted his academic journey. Daniel is currently pursuing a PhD in Trauma Sciences at the Centre for Trauma Sciences, Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London.

His doctoral research focuses on mitigating ischemic injury in trauma haemorrhagic shock, exploring innovative strategies to improve outcomes for critically injured patients. This work aligns with his broader academic interest in advancing the science of trauma care and reducing mortality and morbidity from life-threatening injuries.

Daniel is also a published author. His memoir, ‘Recovery’, released on 19 December 2024, offers a poignant exploration of resilience, personal growth, and the human capacity to overcome adversity.

His advice to current students: ‘Enjoy the entire Oxford experience.’

The survey was sent to just under 1,000 alumni of the Department's courses to help us learn more about their experiences with the Department and how they'd like to stay involved and connected. Respondents could opt into a prize draw, and the winner was chosen – quite literally – from a top hat by the Head of Department, Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh (pictured outside our Radcliffe Primary Care offices with our Alumni Relations Manager, Shona Nicholson).

Thank you to all our alumni who took the time to answer the survey questions. The feedback will be invaluable in shaping our programme of alumni activity, including new alumni webpages published in the coming weeks.
