The recipe booklet “RECORD recipes” has been developed as part of the RECORD study (Reduced-carbohydrate intervention to prevent gestational diabetes). This is a small trial which aims to test if it is possible to deliver a dietary programme designed to lower the chances that women who are pregnant will develop high blood glucose levels.

What we eat affects our weight and blood glucose levels. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy (calories), and eating carbohydrates leads to rise in blood glucose. The RECORD dietary programme helps to moderately reduce, but not cut out, the amount of carbohydrate in the diet while maintaining a healthy balanced diet. The recipe booklet includes popular meals, modified to contain a moderate amount of carbohydrate. These recipes can be used by anyone who is looking to maintain their blood glucose levels and weight, and get the balance of different food groups right on their plate.
