I am joining the LEAP team and will be supervised by Prof Susan Jebb. I am originally from Turkey, and a graduate of the Dual BA Program between Columbia University in New York, USA and Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) in France. I hold two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in Psychology and Sociology and the other in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies.
Following my undergraduate degrees, I completed my MPhil in Social and Developmental Psychology at the University of Cambridge, and worked as a research assistant at the Cambridge Social Decision Making Lab, where I published my first paper on people’s perceptions of meat consumption as an environmentally significant behaviour that contributes to climate change, and their intentions and actions to reduce said consumption.
My DPhil project will explore barriers and enablers to reducing meat consumption, with an emphasis on the role of pro-environmental social norms and identities in individuals’ likelihood to change their behavior.
Outside of my academic work, I enjoy dancing, painting, cooking, traveling and visiting family and friends that are now all around the world!
