Researchers from the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (NDPCHS) and the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) came together this week for a collaborative showcase, held at Keble College.
The aim of the event was to bring together colleagues from both departments to find areas of synergy and spark ideas for new applications and collaborations across the themes shared between the departments.

The half-day showcase brought together researchers from all levels to share talks on key research areas across NDPCHS and NDORMS. This was followed by structured discussions using a ‘world café’ format in which attendees moved between themed discussion tables on topics including:
- Data driven healthcare and health economics
- Navigating the interface between primary care, community care, and secondary care for Musculoskeletal conditions
- Population Musculoskeletal health
- Novel diagnostics, therapies, treatments, and models of care
Facilitators introduced each theme and led brief, structured conversations. These were designed to help colleagues exchange ideas, learn about each other’s work, and explore how combining their expertise might lead to new research proposals.

Poster prize winners, Elin Rowlands (NDPCHS) and Sanjana Choudhury (NDORMS)
Associate Professor Charlotte Albury, lead organiser from NDPCHS said:
‘Collaboration between NDORMS and NDPCHS gives us a unique opportunity to connect cutting-edge musculoskeletal and inflammation research with primary care expertise, ensuring discoveries can translate into real improvements in people’s everyday lives’
Dr Antony Palmer, lead organiser from NDORMS said: ‘The strength of this partnership is in its breadth, from laboratory insights and clinical trials to prevention and patient-centred approaches. Together, NDORMS and NDPCHS can deliver research with real reach and relevance.’
With shared enthusiasm and a commitment to collaboration, participants left Keble College with new connections, fresh ideas, and a clearer sense of how working together can drive meaningful impact.
