We aim to understand how healthcare professionals manage patients with recurrent vulvovaginal thrush (candidiasis) and what might help support them in this role.

Experiences and Challenges with Recurrent Vulvovaginal Thrush in Primary Care

We are interested in hearing from

Clinicians seeing people in general practice and sexual health in the UK and who have experience of seeing patients with thrush.

The interviews will take place online or over the phone depending on what you prefer.

Interviews will last 30-45 minutes. After the interview, you will be provided with a £40 voucher as a thank you for your time.

This study is part of a larger project "Experiences and Challenges with Recurrent Vulvovaginal Thrush in Primary Care: A Qualitative Study" that seeks to improve patient experiences and health service management. It is supported by the NIHR and is being conducted by the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.

How will patient and the public be involved?

This study has been designed with the help of patient representatives (PPI) and healthcare professionals and will continue to be guided by their input.

Expected impact

The aim of this research programme is to improve understanding of people’s experiences of recurrent vulvovaginal thrush, and provide resources to support those living with this condition and the health professionals involved in their care. We wish to speak with healthcare professionals about their experiences of helping patients with recurrent thrush. These findings will be combined with findings from patient interviews and published in academic journals.

Update

This study has produced a HEXI module exploring experiences of recurrent vulvovaginal thrush. Access the full patient insight resource Recurrent Vulvovaginal Thrush on the HEXI website
