Not reinventing the wheel

Rather than developing comprehensive patient management systems we are exploring the way that existing technologies, especially mobile phones, can be used to provide personalised messages that can provide motivation, hints and tips, and link people into making best use of medical care.

Automated and personalised support

We are currently developing and testing a mobile-device based system delivering automated, tailored brief messages to offer support for medicine use alongside usual care to people with type 2 diabetes. This programme of work will include developing and refining the content of messages targeted at a wide range of health behaviours and assessing their impact on people with diabetes and health systems.
