The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences has extended the deadline for applications to the Rosamund Snow Scholarship for Patient-Led Research to 14 February 2025. Recent recipients of the scholarship, Amelia Talbot and Jeremy Leslie-Spinks share their research projects and DPhil experiences.

Congratulations to our students who participated in the Hackathon Prize competition as part of a workshop for the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health. DPhil student Gina Wren's team came in first-place and MSc in Applied Digital Health student Anton Elepaño's team took second-place.
More children aged 8-17 trying to lose weight than a decade ago, including children of a healthy weight

New research from Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences researchers, including DPhil student Melissa Little, has found that the number of children aged 8-17 reporting weight loss attempts has increased over the last decade. The researchers also identified key characteristics linked to an increased likelihood of weight loss attempts.
Benefit-to-harm balance of statins for healthy adults "generally favourable", suggests Oxford-led research

Statins are associated with a small increased risk of side effects in patients without a history of heart disease, but these effects are mild compared with the potential benefits of treatment in preventing major cardiovascular events, finds a study led by Oxford University researchers.
