An over the shoulder view of a group of pregnant women who are sharing their journey together. They are attending a pregnancy group and in a community centre in the North East of England.

Who we are

This Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Advisory Group on Maternal Health is a group of people all of whom have recent experience of pregnancy and/or parenting young children. Members of the group use their experiences to advise us on the programme of research Rebekah Burrow is leading. To understand more about how we work together, please look at our PPI advisory group statement.

How you can help

We are looking for more people to join this Advisory Group. We are particularly keen to include people whose experiences and perspectives might not be well understood or represented by our current members. Right now, this includes younger mums, women of ethnicities minoritized in the UK, members of some LGBTQ+ communities, and women who have been (or are) educationally disadvantaged, among many others.

If you might be interested to join, if you have any questions, if you might need any support to contribute fully, please contact rebekah.burrow@phc.ox.ac.uk.

We provide timely compensation at £25 per hour, and cover travel and subsistence expenses.

What we have achieved

So far, this Advisory Group, and other PPI contributors with experience of pregnancy and parenting, have advised Rebekah on four different projects. You will be able find more information about these projects, and the impact of PPI, by the end of 2026.
