People and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Committee
Terms of Reference:
The People & EDI Committee advises the Department Strategic Committee (DSC) on all matters related to:
- Enabling staff personal development and career pathways;
- Ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion are embedded in departmental processes, policies and behaviours;
- Overseeing and integrating findings and recommendations from the Athena Swan SAT to promote and enable gender equality;
- Scrutinise staff surveys and relevant data to prioritise issues to action
- Supporting a positive culture in the department and promoting staff wellbeing;
- Enabling a conducive physical environment that is inclusive and accessible;
- Ensuring that the department is free from bullying and harassment;
- Oversight of academic appointments;
- Risk management
- Receive reports from HR and relevant working groups
- Where necessary, representing staff concerns at division/university level
Confidentiality:
Matters discussed at this committee will be dealt with at the highest level of anonymity possible. To enable business to be effected full anonymity will not always be possible and where individuals are named, or identifiable, departmental Information Governance policies will be followed. Members of the committee will uphold confidentiality.
Frequency of meetings:
Three times per term in, or around, 0th, 4th and 9th week and as necessary
Quorum:
2 Academics and 2 Professional & Support - where meetings are not quorate a provisional decision may be made pending ratification from absent members.
